Building a centralized command center for managing Majesco cloud environments
As Majesco’s SaaS portfolio continued to grow, customers had information about their cloud environments spread across different systems and teams. Understanding the state of an environment could require checking product versions, system availability, scheduled maintenance, usage metrics, and support tickets independently.
Customers needed a simpler way to understand what was happening across their Majesco applications and quickly identify anything that required their attention.
I designed Majesco Cloud Control as a centralized operational dashboard that brings the most important information about a customer’s Majesco cloud environment into one place.
The experience brings together product information, usage metrics, system health and availability, scheduled maintenance, and support activity into a single interface. Rather than requiring users to navigate between different applications or teams, Cloud Control provides an immediate overview while giving users clear paths to explore areas that need attention.
Cloud Control presented an interesting design challenge because it needed to serve several different types of operational needs within a single experience. IT administrators may be primarily concerned with system availability and maintenance, while business stakeholders may care more about product adoption and usage. Support teams have a different focus around open issues and resolution.
I worked closely with product management and stakeholders to understand the requirements and establish a clear hierarchy for the information the dashboard needed to communicate.
Since Cloud Control was being built as a new experience, I focused on understanding the existing ecosystem and looking at comparable products and enterprise dashboards for inspiration. This helped establish patterns for presenting complex operational information while keeping the experience approachable and easy to scan.
A key goal throughout the process was to avoid creating another complicated enterprise application. The dashboard needed to answer three basic questions quickly:
What do I have?
Which products and environments am I running, and are they up to date?
How is it doing?
What is the current health, availability, and usage of my environment?
Does anything need my attention?
Are there upcoming maintenance events, product updates, or support issues I should know about?
These questions became the foundation for the information architecture and overall experience.
With the requirements established, I explored different approaches for organizing the large amount of information Cloud Control needed to communicate.
I ultimately focused on a dashboard-first architecture built around modular information cards. Each module represents a distinct area of the customer’s cloud environment while maintaining a consistent visual and interaction model across the experience.
The global selectors at the top establish the customer’s context before the user interacts with the dashboard, allowing them to select their customer, product suite, and environment. Everything below then reflects that specific environment.
The dashboard is organized around five primary areas:
This structure allowed a large amount of operational information to be presented without requiring users to navigate through multiple levels of the application. The visual hierarchy was intentionally designed around quick scanning, with the most important status information immediately visible and more detailed information available when needed.
The final Cloud Control experience acts as a mission-control dashboard for Majesco’s cloud platform.
Users can select the environment they want to manage and immediately see the current state of their products, usage, system availability, scheduled maintenance, and support activity.
The modular dashboard makes it possible to quickly scan the overall health of an environment while providing clear entry points into individual areas. Status indicators, metrics, and concise supporting information help users identify changes or potential issues without having to search through separate systems.
The result is a more cohesive operational experience that turns a complex collection of cloud information into a single, understandable view.
Cloud Control established a centralized way for Majesco customers to monitor and manage their cloud environments by bringing previously separate operational information into a single experience.
The dashboard architecture also created a scalable foundation for expanding the platform over time. New capabilities could be introduced as additional modules without fundamentally changing the user’s mental model or navigation.
